The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, today arrived in Bujumbura, the capital of Burundi, where he had a meeting with the President of the Republic of Burundi, Mr. Evariste Ndayishimiye.
The meeting between the two presidents was focused on strengthening the relationship between Somalia and Burundi, while discussing important issues regarding security, economic and political cooperation.
Also, President Hassan Sheikh and his Burundian counterpart discussed the support of the Burundian forces in the peacekeeping operation in Somalia, and how the two countries could strengthen cooperation in regional stability.
The President of the Republic thanked the people and the government of Burundi for their continuous support to Somalia, especially their participation in peacekeeping, as the two Presidents agreed to further strengthen the commercial and diplomatic relations between the two countries.
